The Animal Foundation opens low-cost spay and neuter clinic

Spay-Neuter clinic

The Animal Foundation opened a new low-cost spay and neuter clinic Tuesday.

The clinic, at 655 North Mojave Road, near Washington and Eastern avenues, offers services at a fraction of the cost of veterinary hospital procedures, the foundation said.

Mayor Oscar Goodman helped open the clinic as part of National Spay Day, a campaign by the Humane Society of the United States.

The Animal Foundation, which operates the Lied Animal Shelter, takes in more than 50,000 homeless, lost, neglected, unwanted and abused animals each year. The non-profit group has contracts with Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Clark County to take in animals at the largest open-admission shelter in the valley.

The foundation opened the new clinic as part of a push to reduce pet overpopulation while providing services from board certified veterinarians and veterinary assistants.

Services at the clinic require an appointment, which can be made by calling (702) 384-3333, extension 137. More information is available on the foundation’s website, www.animalfoundation.com.
