Road repairs near McCarran to close lanes, disrupt traffic

Lane closures

Roadwork near McCarran International Airport will likely affect traffic north of the airport this week.

Crews will be resurfacing and repairing parts of the road leading to the terminals from Paradise Road. The work will close two of the three lanes of the airport roads from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, Tuesday through Friday.

The lane closures could create backups both for people going to the airport and for motorists trying to access the airport connector tunnel from Paradise Road.

Airport officials are asking motorists to use other routes during the construction period.

Roadwork will begin in the southbound lanes of Paradise Road just before the split to access the tunnel and will continue until just before the departure area of Terminal 1. During the closure, access to the Zero Level for taxis will be maintained.

In addition to the work this week, airport officials plan additional road repairs in March at the intersection of Russell Road, Paradise Road and Swenson Street, just north of the tunnel. Dates for this phase of work haven't been announced.
