One of the last vestiges of Nevada’s history—legalized prostitution—could be going bye-bye, at least if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has any say in the matter. Reid, speaking to state lawmakers in Carson City this week, touched on outlawing prostitution because he wants more businesses to move to Nevada, and because it might ward off potential employers in the counties where it is legal. Pardon us, but those employers can stay out of Nevada for all we care. Not only is getting rid of the world’s oldest profession in the Silver State a slippery slope as we kowtow to relocating businesses—what’s next, gambling?—but it only increases the amount of illegal prostitution, and the subsequent health risks inherent therein. And c’mon—no more Cathouse on HBO?
The hell you say!
