Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries Friday morning after fire damaged an apartment at a high-rise building east of the Las Vegas Strip.
The Clark County Fire Department responded at 7:53 a.m. to the fire at Vegas Towers, 1065 E. Flamingo Road, near Maryland Parkway.
County spokesman Dan Kulin said two women, one in her 40s and another in her 70s, were taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Both were conscious and alert, he said.
Two other people were treated for minor injuries at the scene but weren't hospitalized.
Kulin said the fire was contained to one apartment on the 10th floor, which is the top floor of the building.
The fire was ruled accidental and was probably caused by smoking in bed, Kulin said. Damage was estimated at $150,000.
