Metro Police released the identities Saturday morning of four officers who shot an apparent burglar late Wednesday night.

The officers were Dave Reid, 50, who has been with Metro for 24 years; Anton Gorup, 42, with Metro 16 years; Leaareon Fincher, 44, a 15-year veteran; and William Marx, 40, a Metro officer for 13 years.

All four officers are part of Metro’s SWAT unit.

Police previously said the slain man was trying to break into apartments about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday within a complex at 9745 Grand Teton Drive in the northwest valley.

When officers arrived, the man shot at police, who returned fire. The man died at the scene.

Metro releases the names of officers involved in shootings 48 hours after the event.

The officers were placed on paid administrative leave for an investigation into the incident, which is standard procedure in cases of officer-involved shootings.

No other information about the deceased man has been released by the police department or the coroner’s office.
