Additional Las Vegas Boulevard lane closures announced

Strip construction

Work on Las Vegas Boulevard traffic signals will require more lane closures this week than initially expected, the Regional Transportation Commission said.

Two lanes of southbound Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed between Sahara Avenue and Circus Circus Drive on the north end of the Strip from 2 to 10 a.m. each day this week.

Officials initially said only one lane would be closed for the project.

For this week, only one lane will be open for southbound traffic during the work periods.

The project is part of work being done for the Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation, or FAST, which monitors and controls traffic through an intelligent transportation system, which includes traffic cameras and sensors.

FAST controls more than 1,200 traffic signals throughout the valley and uses ramp meters and message signs to manage traffic on valley freeways.

Officials ask motorists to plan extra travel time and use extra caution while traveling through the resort corridor during this project.
