Fatal shooting
The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified a man who was shot and killed Sunday near Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue as Justin Jones.
Police homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said Jones, 27, was shot about 3:40 p.m. at the Parkway Villas apartments, 5115 Golden Lane. He was taken with critical injuries to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died.
Police said Sunday that a group of people were having a party in the street in front of an open garage prior to the shooting.
During the party, a man arrived and got into a confrontation with Jones, pulled a handgun and shot at him several times, authorities said. Police haven't determined a motive for the shooting.
The shooting was the third homicide this year within Metro's jurisdiction.
