The city of Henderson’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its annual Bark in the Park on Saturday.

Dog lovers are invited to Paseo Verde Park, 1851 Paseo Verde Parkway, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to catch demonstrations, educational booths and contests. Vendors who offer products and services for dogs will also be in attendance.

The city’s Animal Care and Control Facility, along with Happy Home Animal Sanctuary, will offer pet adoptions at the park.

In addition, dog owners can participate in Radar Rover, an event that uses a radar gun to measure their pet’s running speed. Proceeds from the event will benefit Noah’s Animal House, which provides temporary boarding for pets belonging to clients of Shade Tree shelter.

“Six in 10 American households own a pet, and most consider their pets to be members of the family,” said Recreation Services supervisor Vanessa Caster. “Bark in the Park provides and opportunity for the whole family – including four-legged friends – to enjoy one of (Henderson’s) signature events.”

Admission to Bark in the Park is free for all ages. All dogs must be leashed and their handlers must be at least 10 years old. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
