Following a weekend that brought scattered rain to the valley and snow to the mountains, lots of sunshine is in store today for the Las Vegas area.

Dry conditions are expected over the area through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Then the next Pacific storms moves into the southern Sierra early Wednesday morning and then across central Nevada during the day on Wednesday, the weather service said.

Strong winds could also move in Wednesday along the eastern Sierra slopes and into the Owens Valley, forecasters said.

By Wednesday, temperatures will gradually warm to a little above normal, they said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 39 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 44 degrees. The record low was 19 degrees, set in 1963.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 37 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 39 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 33 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 46 degrees by 9 a.m., to 58 degrees by noon and reach a high of 61 degrees by 2 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 66 degrees and the record high was 82 degrees, set in 1986 and 1972.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 55 degrees by 6 p.m., to 51 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 47 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Tuesday's morning low will be 39 degrees and Tuesday's high will climb to 67 degrees, they said.
