Cooking classes at Loews Lake Las Vegas focus on diet

Taking a page from First Lady Michelle Obama, Adam Cho, chef at Rick's Cafe at Loews Lake Las Vegas, is offering classes for those interested in spicing up their diet while watching their weight.

Cho's Spice Skool will hold its first session Jan. 15, with classes to follow on the third Saturday of each month through the rest of the year. The cost is $20. Class begins at 3 p.m.

The program's inspiration comes from Obama and her "Let's Move" initiative, Cho said in a news release.

"Cut the fat, not the flavor," he said, noting that spices can aid digestion, calm nerves, soothe headaches and lower cholesterol. Students will leave with a fundamental knowledge of spices and their flavors, as well as their own spice blend and recipes from Cho.
