Red Cross volunteers to offer fire safety tips in valley neighborhoods

To commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada and Hope Worldwide are asking for volunteers to help raise awareness about fire prevention and safety.

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, volunteers will canvass neighborhoods in various corners of the Las Vegas Valley to educate residents and to distribute door hangers in English and Spanish.

Volunteers should meet at the following fire stations: Fire Station 33, 865 E. Desert Inn Road; Fire Station 4 in Las Vegas, 421 S. 15th St.; Fire Station 51 in North Las Vegas, 2626 E. Carey Ave.; and Fire Station 93 in Henderson, 100 Burkholder Blvd.

The neighborhoods were chosen because the Red Cross has recently responded to a home fire in the area, the organization said in a news release.
