The Book Boutique in Henderson's Water Street District will host local author Luzanne Lucas for a special book signing from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Her book, "A Sweet Breath of Life," is designed to help readers "find out more about who they really are," said Lucas, 83, who has lived in the valley for more than 40 years. "It's inspirational, but it's not your usual self-help book."
She moved from Sacramento to open her own business with "everything a woman needs," Lucas said, which turned from a salon to a gift shop during more than 20 years of business. In the course of her work, Lucas said she had met people of all different personalities and creeds.
"I was intrigued by how much alike and how different we are," she said, so when she wrote "A Sweet Breath of Life," she filled it with characters and experiences from her own life.
Lucas said she continues to write with a similar book, preliminarily titled "Finding Your True Compass," that expands on the themes of her first in the works.
