Time to get a team together: Boulder City will kick off its annual Relay for Life fundraiser on Saturday.
The event's staff will be at the Boulder Dam Brew Pub, starting at noon, to sign up teams, volunteers and committees while serving up "lots of food," including free chili and desserts, said Christy Springgate-Hill, one of the event's organizers.
The annual fundraiser's proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. The cost is $10 per person. Teams range from five or six people to more than 20, Springgate-Hill said.
The relay itself will start at 6 p.m. May 6 on the Boulder City High School track and run through the night until 6 a.m. on May 7. Last year, 23 teams participated to raise $24,000, Springgate-Hill said, the most ever in Boulder City.
This year, the goal is more than 30 teams and $30,000, she said.
