5K fun run to raise money for Australia flood relief efforts

North Las Vegas is hosting a 5K fun run and 1-mile walk fundraiser on Saturday to benefit the flood relief efforts in Australia.

Interested residents are invited to come to Sandstone Ridge Park, 1661 West Hammer Lane, for the “Run for Down Under.”

Registration for the event costs $20 and starts at 7:30 a.m.

The run/walk starts around 9 a.m. and will take participants from the parking lot around the perimeter of the park. Runners will also make a loop on a nearby trail between Clayton Street and Camino al Norte.

The fundraiser is also hosted by the International Public Safety Leadership Ethics Institute and Tour of Duty, a nonprofit organization consisting of Australian and American firefighters who came together after the 9/11 terrorist attacks to help communities in both countries recover from disasters.
