Victim killed by errant gunshot ID’d

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed early Friday by an errant gunshot fired during a fight at a party in the central valley.

Las Vegas resident Derrion Banks, 28, died from gunshot wounds to the chest and right arm. The shooting occurred at an apartment complex at the 600 block of East Twain Avenue.

According to police, a fight broke out between two people at a party in one of the apartment units. As the fight spilled into the parking lot, a crowd gathered to watch, at which point someone fired a gun into the air. The shot struck Banks, who was standing on the second story landing in front of his apartment unit.

Banks then returned to his apartment where he died, police said.
