A person set fire Monday to a facility that assists autistic children and young adults, causing fire and water damage.
Chris Swanger, a spokesman for Sport Social — located at 7055 Windy St., near Las Vegas Boulevard South and Warm Springs Road — said multiple fires were set throughout the building, which also houses Families for Effective Autism Treatment as well as Autism Building Blocks.
Both organizations and Sport Social are closed while damage to the building is repaired, Swanger said.
Sport Social is a Las Vegas startup that teaches social skills to more than 225 special needs children through sports, team activities and art. The fire occurred in the middle of Autism Awareness Month, forcing several activities to be canceled, Swanger said.
