Henderson Police make 4 DUI arrests at sobriety checkpoint

Henderson police arrested four drivers suspected of driving under the influence overnight Friday at a sobriety checkpoint.

Henderson Police held the checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday on St. Rose Parkway near Eastern Avenue. A total of 5,500 cars passed through the checkpoint, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.

Four drivers were arrested on DUI counts, and five motorists and passengers were arrested on drug-related charges.

Henderson Police held the checkpoint to kick off Labor Day weekend, which accounted for the more traffic fatalities than New Year’s weekend and is considered one of the most dangerous times to be on the road, Paul said.

Henderson Police were assisted by officers from Boulder City Police and Metro Police as well as the Nevada Highway Patrol.
