Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper celebrates as he crosses home after hitting a solo home run during the first inning of a baseball game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Nationals Park, Monday, July 1, 2013, in Washington.

WASHINGTON — Bryce Harper has homered in his first at-bat in his return from the disabled list.

The Washington Nationals slugger put the second pitch he faced from Yovani Gallardo into the visitor's bullpen for an opposite-field home run in the first inning of Monday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Harper was activated before the game after missing 31 games with bursitis in his left knee.

The solo shot was Harper's 13th home run of the season and his 24th RBI.
