Medical reasons to blame for crash that killed man

A 66-year-old man died on Saturday in a crash caused by a possible medical episode.

Henderson Police responded to the collision about 12:30 p.m. on Galleria Drive near Marks Street. The man went off the roadway and was found slumped over the wheel, unconscious, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the man had a medical episode that caused him to drive off the roadway. The car struck the wall and rode along it into the intersection where he sideswiped a light pole, Paul said.

The man was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals – De Lima Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

Henderson Police determined that speed, drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision, Paul said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death.
