Man is critical after being shot in head in western valley, police say

Shooting

A man is in critical condition after being shot twice today in front of about 10 people in the western valley, according to Metro Police.

Detectives are sorting through myriad eyewitness accounts to figure out what happened, Lt. John Liberty said.

So far, the investigation indicates the victim got into an argument at a convenience store and the suspect — or possibly suspects — followed the victim, in his mid-20s, to the 6700 block of Dey Rey Avenue, near Rainbow and Charleston boulevards, Liberty said.

The shooter is thought to have fled the scene in a vehicle, and it is unclear if multiple people were involved.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center with two gunshot wounds to the head, one of which was a grazing wound, Liberty said.

No one is in custody at this time.
