CASTAIC, Calif. — Authorities say three people, including two children, were killed when the sedan they were traveling in slammed into the back of a parked big rig on a Southern California freeway.
California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos says the collision occurred around 1 a.m. Monday on Interstate 5 near Castaic.
The Honda crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer and wound up underneath it.
KABC-TV reports that an adult male driver and two children in the car were killed. Their ages were not immediately available.
Villalobos says the crash occurred in a brake-check area, so freeway traffic was not affected.
The incident is being investigated.
