Coroner IDs 3 killed in weekend traffic incidents

Three people killed in separate car accidents over the weekend were identified today as 39-year-old Norman Beavers, 21-year-old Trenton Cain Gleaton and 42-year-old Nneka S. Geter-Easterling, according to Clark County Coroner’s Office officials.

Beavers died Saturday after a vehicle hit him while he was walking in the crosswalk on Las Vegas Boulevard, near Agate Avenue, Metro Police said. The driver, Peter Whitaker, 22, left the scene, police said.

Police found Whitaker nearby at his residence and arrested him on a count of felony hit and run, authorities said.

Also on Saturday, Gleaton died after he crashed his motorcycle into a light pole on Oakey Boulevard near Martin Luther King Boulevard, Metro Police said. The motorcycle caught fire and engulfed Gleaton in flames, police said.

Geter-Easterling, meanwhile, died on Sunday in a three-vehicle collision at Tropical Parkway and Durango Drive.

She was driving a Ford Mustang east on Tropical when a pickup truck traveling south on Durango crashed into her, police said.

The impact caused Geter-Easterling’s vehicle to spin and hit a Pontiac sedan in the right turn lane on Durango, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers, ages 18 and 16, in the Mustang were transported to University Medical Center with severe injuries, police said.
