Police identify suspect in Silicon Valley arsons

SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose police have identified a suspect they say caused most of the more than a dozen arson fires within a week in the city.

Deputy Police Chief Edguardo Garcia on Thursday identified the alleged arsonist as Patrick William Brennan in connection with a string of 13 arsons last week, including a five-alarm blaze at a warehouse.

The 48-year-old Brennan of San Jose was arrested Wednesday and has been charged with two counts of arson.

Garcia says additional charges are likely because authorities are "extremely confident" that Brennan is the suspect and that he acted alone in the fires.

Police say Brennan has a previous record of arson in California as well as out of state. He is being held in custody on $1 million bail.
