A woman arrested Tuesday morning after a homeowner was fatally shot and his wife stabbed with a screwdriver said she and an accomplice talked their way into the house to steal a car, according to a Metro Police report.

Two children at the house witnessed the attack, police said.

Natasha Galenn Jackson, 35, was arrested on counts including murder and kidnapping in a crime spree that started with a carjacking and ended with shootings at two houses in a southeast Las Vegas neighborhood, police said.

The male suspect, identified today by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Cody Winters, 27, was shot to death by police.

According to the arrest report, the couple knocked on a door at 3930 Autumn St. and asked homeowner Richard Ramos if they could use the telephone.

Once inside, Winters — referred to throughout the arrest report as Cody — took out a handgun. Ramos tried to grab the gun, leading to a struggle, the report said.

When Ramos’ wife, Julie, tried to help her husband, Jackson stabbed her with a screwdriver, the report said.

Winters shot Richard Ramos, who later died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. Ramos’ wife, who identified Jackson in a photo lineup, was in critical condition, police said.

Two of Richard Ramos’ children, whose ages were not listed, witnessed part of the attack and fled out a window with another family member, police said.

The suspects, meanwhile, hopped a backyard wall and broke into a nearby abandoned house, police said. They watched as uniformed officers arrived, and Jackson told investigators that she told Winters to shoot at them, though it’s not clear if he did, according to the police report.

Jackson was arrested outside the abandoned house, the report said.

Winters, meanwhile, broke into another home and shot a woman, police said. Winters came out holding the injured woman at gunpoint, and when she fell to the ground, officers shot and killed him, police said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Earlier in the day, about 6:30 a.m., Jackson and Winters were sitting in a stolen Nissan Altima along U.S. 95 near Tropicana Avenue when a freeway service worker stopped his van to see if they needed help, police said.

Winters said they lost their keys, then pulled a gun and demanded the driver’s wallet, keys and cellphone, the report said. The couple forced him to drive them to the area of Tropicana Avenue and Rollingwood Drive, where they walked away, police said.

Jackson was arrested on counts of murder, attempted murder, burglary, attempted home invasion, kidnapping, robbery and attempted robbery, police said. The Clark County District Attorney's Office has not yet filed formal charges against Jackson.

Jackson had prior battery convictions in 2004 and 2005, to which she pled guilty, according to court records.

She is incarcerated at Clark County Detention Center.
