Firefighters battle blaze at vacant house near downtown Las Vegas

An unoccupied home caught fire Wednesday night near downtown Las Vegas.

At about 10:30 p.m., Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a fire at 1729 Bonita Ave., near St. Louis and Eastern avenues, spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Firefighters are working to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring homes, Szymanski said. Homes near the fire have been evacuated.
