Funeral services for Joseph Wilcox, the shopper who was shot and killed after confronting a gunman Sunday inside an east Las Vegas Wal-Mart, have been scheduled.

Wilcox’s funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

The services, according to the Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada Inc., will be open to the public.

Wilcox, a 31-year-old Las Vegas native, died trying to stop two shooters inside the Wal-Mart. Wilcox, who had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, pulled out his handgun to stop gunman Jerad Miller but was shot by Miller's wife, Amanda. Unbeknown to Wilcox, the Millers had just ambushed and killed Metro Police Officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo at a nearby CiCi’s pizza.

Metro officials have hailed Wilcox as a hero.
