Motorcyclist killed in crash near the airport

Updated Friday, June 20, 2014 | 7:45 a.m.

A 22-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday after colliding with a car on Eastern Avenue near McCarran International Airport, Metro Police said.

At about 6:40 p.m., a Chevrolet Cruze traveling north on Eastern Avenue attempted to turn left into a private drive and hit the Suzuki motorcycle, which, police said, was traveling at a high rate of speed from the opposite direction.

The impact sent the motorcyclist flying off his bike, police said. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Metro Lt. Ken Romane said.

His name was not immediately released.

The 34-year-old woman driving the sedan stayed at the scene. Metro hasn’t yet determined who was at fault in the crash, authorities said.
