Metro Police responded to reports of a shooting near Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday only to find out it was a training exercise by a local security firm.
The unnamed security firm didn't notify authorities before starting the exercise at a building just northwest of the speedway, Metro Lt. Ken Romane said. People in the area called police around 4 p.m. after hearing shots fired along with screaming.
Officers arrived, made contact with employees from the firm and resolved the matter, Romane said.
