2 schools locked down as police search for suspect in burglary

Updated Wednesday, March 12, 2014 | 3:08 p.m.

Two schools were locked down today as Metro Police searched for an armed man suspected of burglary in a nearby neighborhood.

A homeowner discovered the man about 11:30 a.m. inside a home in the 3800 block of Bermuda Creek Road, near Warm Springs Road.

Weiner and Hill elementary schools were placed on lockdown shortly before noon while police searched for the suspect, Clark County School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone said.

The lockdown was lifted at 12:30 p.m., after police determined the suspect had left the area before officers arrived, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said. Police are still searching for the man.
