A woman was hit and killed by an SUV Saturday night, Metro Police said.
The woman, 39, was walking across Decatur Boulevard north of Supai Drive at about 8 p.m. when a northbound Dodge Durango struck her. The Durango's driver tried to hit the brakes but was unable to stop in time, police said in a prepared statement.
The woman was walking outside of a marked crosswalk. She was rushed to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Dodge was not suspected of driving under the influence and no other injuries were reported. This is the 32nd fatal accident in LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2014.
