Scooter rider dies five days after crash

An 82-year-old man struck by a vehicle while he was riding a scooter last week died today from the injuries he suffered in the crash , Henderson Police officials said.

George Bennett had been driving his scooter south on Boulder Highway at Greenway Road on Thursday morning, when he attempted to make a lane change. The lane was occupied so he attempted to return to his original lane, when a Toyota Camry attempting to pass him struck him, Henderson Police spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

Bennett was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he died this morning from injuries he suffered in the crash, Richards said.

This is the fourth traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year, Richards said.
