A 15-year-old made an initial appearance as an adult in a Las Vegas courtroom to face a felony murder charge that could get him life in prison in the shooting death of his 18-year-old brother.

Turner Craig Bronson stood in shackles Friday while a judge appointed a public defender to represent him and scheduled his preliminary hearing June 23.

Bronson remains jailed without bail.

His attorney, Amy Feliciano, said outside court that Bronson plans to plead not guilty in the May 22 slaying of Clayton Wesley Bronson at their home in southwest Las Vegas.

Police say their mother, Wendy Bronson, told police she heard a gunshot and found Clayton "Clay" Bronson wounded in the stomach.

She told police she then saw Turner Bronson shoot the 18-year-old in the head.
