Sandoval names new head at Nevada Department of Taxation

CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval has named Deonne Contine director of the state Department of Taxation, succeeding Chris Nielsen, who was appointed to the governor’s staff.

Contine has worked in the department since 2012 and now serves as chief deputy executive director.

Before joining the department, she was a senior deputy in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office. She will earn $127,721 a year in her new job. She holds a law degree from the Boyd School of Law at UNLV.

Nielsen was appointed deputy chief of staff in Sandoval’s office.
