Don’t look now, but Chaparral is 3-1 in the Division I-A Sunrise standings — with a three-game winning streak to boot.
The Cowboys upped their record to 4-3 overall with a 68-21 rout of host Boulder City on Friday night.
“It feels good. It’s very rewarding for the kids,” Chaparral coach Paul Nihipali said. “They’ve created a different atmosphere in our program. Our discipline has gotten better; we’re still not there yet. Kids are buying in each year.”
Two of them, Maharie Trotter and Rollin Crockett, each had an interception return for a touchdown, Nihipali said.
“We were happy with our defense and their performance tonight,” Nihipali said. “They improved and had a lot of big plays.”
Boulder City dropped to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Division I-A Sunrise play.
