Mojave turned to one of the state’s top players to end its three-game losing streak.

Senior running back Ty Flanagan rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to lift the Rattlers to a crucial 28-18 Division I-A Sunset victory at Clark tonight.

The win was the first for Mojave (5-3, 3-3) since a 28-7 victory at Sierra Vista on Sept. 19.

“Overall, a great team win,” Mojave coach Joe Delgado wrote in a text message. “It was great to break the losing streak and get back on the winning side. We had a lot of players step up when we needed.”

And it wasn’t just Flanagan, a San Diego State recruiting target and Sun Preseason All-City pick, who stepped up.

Davion Fletcher ran for 83 yards on four carries for Mojave, and Zack Arave added 34 yards rushing and 20 passing.

Delgado said Taiwan Braden returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown for Mojave, and Kharye Shine also grabbed an interception.

The Rattlers’ defense also saw linebacker Kaleb Friedman record nine tackles, and defensive tackle Daijon Payno registered a sack.

Clark dropped to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the I-A Sunset logjam.
