Metro officer involved in crash that closes two U.S. 95 lanes

A minor-injury crash involving a Metro Police officer in a patrol car closed two lanes on southbound U.S. 95 Friday afternoon.

According to a media release, a patrol car entered the left travel lane from the right travel lanes south of Las Vegas Boulevard with its lights and sirens on. The patrol car was slowing down when a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup struck its rear.

The front left of the patrol car then struck a wall.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. The officer was transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police do not suspect the driver of the Chevrolet was impaired.

The accident closed down two lanes on U.S. 95 for about four hours, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
