Members of the band Brumby pose during a photo shoot in Las Vegas Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014. From left: guitarist Tyler Tingey, bassist Spencer Tingey, frontman Oliver Tingey, and drummer Dylan Self. The band members all grew up on the same cul-de-sac in Las Vegas.

The home that inspired the name of Las Vegas band Brumby’s debut album is one you would expect to find here decades ago.

Built in the 1960s, before today’s resorts and large housing developments, the stucco two-story has a backyard large enough for horses, goats and chickens. Past the animals is a merry-go-round, tire swing and swimming pool framed by large trees. The upper outline of the Strip sits just over a brick wall.

This is the home, on Westwind Street, where three of the four band members’ fathers grew up. It’s also part of the inspiration for the band’s debut album, “The Westwind Kid.”

Since forming in 2009, Brumby has performed 35 shows, most notably opening for Kings of Leon and playing alongside Young the Giant.

The band includes Tyler Tingey (guitar), his cousins Oliver (vocals) and Spencer Tingey (bass) and childhood friend Dylan Self (drums).

After graduating high school and a short stint in Provo, Utah, the Brumby boys headed back to the place that inspires them most: the Las Vegas Valley. Here, they share some of the things they love most about our city.

      ⦿  Idol: Simon and Garfunkel

    • Oliver Tingey, vocals
