Man wounded in weekend shooting dies at hospital

A man who was shot over the weekend in North Las Vegas has died, police said.

David Cabrera, 21, of Las Vegas arrived at University Medical Center about 9:30 p.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office and North Las Vegas Police.

He was reportedly shot while riding in a vehicle in the 3500 block of Stanley Avenue, near Pecos Road and Owens Street, police said.

The 23-year-old driver took Cabrera to University Medical Center, where he was hospitalized in critical condition before detectives were notified Monday of his death, police said.

The driver was not injured, police said.

This is the second homicide in North Las Vegas this year, police said.
