3-year-old Las Vegas boy taken to hospital after near-drowning

Clark County Fire Department officials are reminding residents about pool safety after a near-drowning this afternoon involving a 3-year-old child in a pool at a south valley residence, said in a release.

The boy was pulled from the pool at a home near the intersection of Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Bermuda Road.

The fire department received a call at 3:30 p.m. that bystanders were performing CPR on the boy. Upon arrival, fire department paramedics found the child alive and in a lethargic state. After paramedics assessed the child, he was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Sienna Campus for further evaluation.

As pool season gets under way in the valley, Clark County Fire Department officials remind people to observe the ABCD's of drowning prevention:

A: Adult Supervision

B: Barriers (fences around the pool)

C: Classes (swim lessons and CPR)

D: Devices (personal floatation devices PFD’s, life jackets and rescue tools)
