Officials investigating a suspicious item near East Flamingo Road and South Maryland Parkway this afternoon say the scene is now safe, according to Metro Police.
The item was reported about 2:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Rochelle Avenue, and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue's bomb squad was called just before 4 p.m. to help Metro investigate, fire and Metro officials said.
Metro's Armor Unit looked into a possible device and "rendered it safe" about 5:45 p.m., Lt. Patrick Charoen said.
Police did not specify what the item was or how it was made safe.
