This head-on crash on U.S. 95 killed two people Sunday, April 19, 2015.

Two men killed in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 95 Sunday afternoon have been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

David Beckstrand, 40, of Las Vegas and Michael Phillip Johannsen, 29, of North Las Vegas were pronounced dead after a head-on wreck on U.S. 95 South, north of the Snow Mountain exit, according to the Coroner’s Office and Nevada Highway Patrol.

Beckstrand was driving a black 2007 Chevy Suburban against traffic about 4:15 p.m. when he hit a black 2014 Chevy Camaro being driven by Johannsen head-on, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Both drivers were pronounced dead on scene, Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

Reports indicate Beckstrand was driving recklessly before the crash, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

A blue 2015 Subaru Impreza WRX, meanwhile, collided with the front of the Suburban, and a tractor-trailer hit the right side of the Subaru, officials said. The Suburban rotated into the dirt median and eventually rolled over, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The 34-year-old man driving the Subaru was transported by air to University Medical Center with injuries that did not appear life-threatening, and the 51-year-old male driver of the big rig was not transported, officials said.
