Driver leads police on 100 mph chase near Reno

RENO — Washoe County Sheriff's deputies are still trying to locate the driver who fled a traffic stop at more than 100 miles per hour.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the driver of a black Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plates decided to flee when a deputy pulled the car over this morning.

Sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon said the car reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour as officers chased him on Interstate 80 westbound. A sheriff's department helicopter was also involved in the chase.

The police stopped their pursuit when the car approached Sparks and a populated area.
