Police seek ‘person of interest’ in connection with shooting

Metro Police have released video of a person they are trying to identify and locate in connection with the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman.

Police did not say if the person was wanted for questioning or is a suspect in the case.

Las Vegas resident Cassandra Lee Cassidy had arrived about 10 p.m. Friday at a business in the 1300 block of Westwind Road, near Charleston Boulevard and Lindell Road, when two women approached and asked to use her phone, police said.

The women said they were afraid of men in a nearby car and wanted to call for help, Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.

While the women were talking, a two-door, white car with several occupants pulled up and fired multiple rounds, police said.

Cassidy was shot and later transported to University Medical Center, where she died, police said.

The other two women were not struck, police said.

Police released video today of a person they said they are looking for in connection with the investigation. Police described him as a young black male with short, curly dark hair.
