Southwest Medical opening North Las Vegas health center Saturday

Southwest Medical Associates is opening a 3,500-square-foot health center in North Las Vegas on Saturday.

The health center — which will include primary and preventive care, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics and an urgent care — is designed to meet the needs of nearby residents and the growing Medicaid population, officials said.

The urgent care will conduct senior wellness exams, blood glucose tests, bone-mineral density tests, flu and pneumonia vaccines and urinalysis testing.

The facility is one of five health care centers Southwest Medical opened in the Las Vegas Valley in the last year, which the company estimates generated 200 jobs during that time frame.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by an open house with tours, entertainment, refreshments and free medical programs.
