New York Mets prospect Noah Syndergaard pitches against the Detroit Tigers in an exhibition game Friday, March 6, 2015, in Port St. Lucie, Fla. He will start the season with the Las Vegas 51s.

Noah Syndergaard pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout today for the Las Vegas 51s for an 8-0 victory against Albuquerque in the first game of a doubleheader at Cashman Field.

Syndergaard, who is ranked as the New York Mets’ top minor league prospect, yielded just two hits and retired 17 consecutive batters in helping the 51s win their fourth straight game. He had nine strikeouts and needed only 83 pitches (62 for strikes) in the complete game.

Matt Reynolds went 3 for 4 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. Johnny Monell had two hits and three RBIs for the 51s, and Syndergaard contributed two hits and two runs scored.

The doubleheader was the result of a rain out Saturday in the scheduled first game of the series against Albuquerque. It was the franchise’s first home rain out in Las Vegas since 2008.
