Gov. Brian Sandoval said Monday he would not support Donald Trump for the GOP nomination for president.

“I think there are better qualified individuals,” said Sandoval, Nevada’s Republican governor.

Sandoval said he hasn’t decided who to support for the nomination and wants to talk to the candidates before making a decision. But, he said, Trump does not have sufficient executive experience.

Some of Nevada’s other senior Republicans have already begun lining up behind candidates, including Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchinson, who is backing Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt this weekend will host Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, businesswoman Carly Fiorina, Dr. Ben Carson, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and former New York Governor George Pataki at Laxalt’s inaugural Basque Fry in Gardnerville.

More than 1,500 attendees are expected at the $35-per-person event. Sandoval, though, is not confirmed because he may have a “family commitment.”
