Contractor hits gas line; 140 without service in southwest valley

A contractor hit a 4-inch gas line this afternoon in the southwest valley, leaving more than 100 Southwest Gas customers without service, according to a company spokeswoman.

The line was hit about 2 p.m. near Windmill Lane and Rainbow Boulevard, Southwest Gas representative Sonya Headen said.

As of about 5 p.m., 140 customers were without natural gas service.

The company is working on repairs, and the area has been secured, Headen said.

No estimate of when service will be restored was immediately available.
