Child hospitalized after near-drowning in east valley

A young child was taken to the hospital after a near-drowning in a pool near Desert Inn Road and Pecos Road, according to Metro Police.

The incident in the 3200 block of East Desert Inn Road was reported about 2 p.m., Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The child, whose gender was not immediately available, was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center and appears to be all right, she said.

Metro child abuse and neglect detectives were notified of the incident, which is standard operating procedure, Meltzer said.
