Coroner IDs man dead in west valley murder-suicide

A man police say fatally shot a relative before turning the gun on himself in the west valley Monday night has been identified as 39-year-old Melroz A. Klungseth, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Klungseth died of a perforating gunshot wound to the head in a suicide at the Tuscany apartment complex, located at 725 Hualapai Way, near Charleston Boulevard, according to the Coroner’s Office.

His city of residence was not immediately available.

Officers responded about 6:50 p.m. Monday to the complex after a report of gunshots, and they found both men with gunshot wounds, police said.

Klungseth was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, 30-year-old Las Vegas resident Clayton Klungseth, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police did not disclose the exact relationship between the men but confirmed they were relatives.
