Nevada unemployment rate down to 6.8 percent in July

Nevada's unemployment rate remains below 7 percent, taking another slight dip in July.

The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Wednesday that Nevada's jobless rate dropped to 6.8 percent last month.

That number is down from the 6.9 percent recorded in June.

Gov. Brian Sandoval said in a statement that there's still much to be done but that he was encouraged by the number of business openings in the state.

This is welcomed news after the Nevada unemployment rate saw a plateau earlier this year.

It held at 7.1 percent between January and April, following its first month-over-month increase in more than four years as recorded between December 2014 and January 2015.
